Dumpster diving

October 31st, 2011

Whether you’re looking at dumpster rental northern Virginia, Southern Virginia, Utah, or Maine you know your project is going to be generating some junk, junk that is going to need to be taken care of and gotten rid off. Or perhaps you’re looking for a more long-term dumpster service for your restraint, school, or business. But whatever the case, it might surprise you to discover how much value the stuff you’re throwing away is worth, and how easy it can be to transfer some of that waste, into cash.

Now I’m not talking about the value your junk has to people crawling through it looking for cans to recycle or loose change. And I’m defiantly not talking about identity thieves going after financial documents or old credit cards, or perverts stalking someone even into their trash (anyone remember the penguin from the old batman movie?). I’m actually talking about construction materials and recycling.

If you can manage to keep all one type of trash to one dumpster you create what is known as a clean load. A clean load is fantastic because, whether it contains concrete, shingles, aluminum, steel (metals are great), or bio-matter, someone is looking for just that substance and by selling it to them you can recoup not only your dump fees (which are substantial) but a good chunk of your dumpster fees as well.

Even businesses with dumpsters in the back can use different bins to reap some of these rewards, filtering their junk and helping not only the environment, but their pocketbooks as well.
